The Countrywide Great Tour is the ultimate cycling adventure in Britain, a 64-day circumnavigation of the British coastline from east to west, north to south that takes in some of the country’s most stunning coastal scenery.
From Holyhead in Wales it travels clockwise round the country, through Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria before spending nearly three weeks in Scotland. When it renters English soil it winds its way south through the North East, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Sussex, Hampshire, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall and the UK’s mainland most southerly point Land’s End before heading north through Devon and Somerset and back into Wales for the final stretch.
Each day’s ride is around 100km or 60 miles long and participants are fully supported with food, refreshments and bike maintenance if needed.
You can choose a variety of packages from a day’s riding at £50 to a week package for £900, which includes food and accommodation; while the die-hard adventurers can ride all 64 days for £8,100.
The event is raising money and awareness for seven charities; Action For A-T, CTC – The National Cycling Charity, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Network, Macmillan, Anthony Nolan, Alzheimers Society and the RNLI
